Mumbo's Mountain: Jiggy Locations

Mumbo's Hut and Beyond...
1

Welcome to Mumbo's Mountain, the first world of the game. To collect the first Jiggy, you'll need to proceed up the path along the hill located near your entrance (you may want to grab the Mumbo Token and Jinjo nearby first (see first image below)) until you reach a small village area, housing a Skull Hut on display as its center of attention. The level's first Jiggy can be found resting in the right eye socket of the hut. Do a simple flap flip to boost yourself up to it. Mumbo himself, the game's self-proclaimed shaman, can be found waiting inside the hut, although he is of no use to you until you find the level's five Mumbo Tokens, which are Mumbo's source of revenue. As the game progresses, Mumbo's token price will steadily rise, so be on the lookout for these little skull-shaped gems. I'll be listing the locations of all of the Mumbo Tokens in the game throughout this guide (usually with just a picture; maybe a small description if I feel it's necessary). For starters, here are the locations of the five in Mumbos's Mountain:

Local Vandalism
2

Now, as long as we're here, we may as well check out the surrounding area a bit more thoroughly, if you get what I'm sayin'. Find Bottles, who is located in the area left of Mumbo's Hut, near the wall, to add a new move to your collection -- the Beak Buster; if you're not the creative type, we'll just refer to this as the ground pound, I suppose - after all, I wouldn't want to confuse you or anything. Once you've done that, use it to crack open all of the surrounding huts in the area to load up on items -- two of those items being a Jiggy and the Green Jinjo. Be sure to get all of the notes in the surrounding area as well. Don't fret over what the eggs are or aren't for - you'll find out soon enough, so just grab 'em anyway. (Note: An extra life can also be obtained from one of the huts.)

Where is It Exactly?
3

Once you've collected all of the items around Mumbo's Hut, exit the area, and head in the direction of the Termite's Mound (while you're here, go ahead and enter the Mound to collect a Mumbo Token). Walk along the side and head towards the back of the Mound, and run up a path leading to a small plateau with some ruins on it. The world's third Jiggy can be found sitting on a platform in plain site in the middle of the ruins - if you can't find it, I'm sorry to say, but you should probably just give up; turn the game off now and find a nice calm activity to do - you need to relax and clear your head; grab a massage if you wish; whatever you do, just make sure it isn't this - believe me, this guide is no where near detailed enough for you; let's not try to postpone the inevitable, shall we? But anyway, after you've done that, go ahead and collect the Mumbo Token around back, and the eggs nested under the small ark. Like I said above, you may not know what they're for eggsactly, but go ahead and collect them just for the hell of it.

Slip 'n' Slide
4

Locate Bottles at the opposite end of the ruins (opposite from the ark with the eggs, that is) to learn the Talon Trot (you'll be using this move a lot in this game, so be sure to get a good feel for it). Before leaping down the hillside, go ahead and get atop the ruins (using the Talon Trot, of course) to collect the Notes and Orange Jinjo. Once you've done that, you may as well scour the platforms located on the hillside below the ruins to obtain some more Notes and the Yellow Jinjo. After you're done there, head on over to the opposite hillside (near Mumbo) and grab the remaining notes and a Jiggy, located on a platform somewhere in the middle, now bringing your collection total up to four.

Orange Tang Pain
5

We're starting to make some progress now, so let's keep it up. At the base of the hill, go ahead and enter the lower-left corner of the Mountain. You'll know you're in the right spot when you see a high-speed orange accelerating in the general direction of your head, with the cause just so happening to be because of an orange-lobbing monkey with an attitude problem. His name is Conga, and we'll have to trick him in order to obtain our fifth Jiggy. If you take a look at the ground, you'll notice that there are some orange switches--three in total--placed in equal intervals around the base of the tree. Go ahead and stand on one, and wait for Conga to hurl an orange at you. Before the orange hits you, simply dodge it so it hits the switch instead, prompting the "you-did-something-right" ping-y noise. Repeat this strategy on the other two switches to score your fifth Jiggy.

I'll Take That
6

Chimpy, the little monkey nearby, craves a snack. If you haven't figured out the rest by now *shocker*, read on - although, it really should be slap-your-face obvious, but to each his own, I guess. Go ahead and climb up the orange tree to collect one from the branches. After that, carry it over to Chimpy, who is situated on a small stump a few feet away. The tiny primate will thank you for the snack, and clear out afterward, leaving you with the sixth Jiggy and a small platform to access the upper area. Go ahead and use the platform to boost yourself up, and learn how to shoot eggs from Bottles, whose molehill should be slightly to your left. After doing that, go ahead and collect the eggs, Mumbo Token, and hit the Witch Switch nearby, which will summon the second Gruntilda's Lair Jiggy to appear on top of the world's entrance/exit (don't worry, we'll nab this later).

Ah! "Witch Switch?," you ponder. I see I've peaked your interest, so I'll give you the basic rundown behind Witch Switches. Basically, there's one hidden somewhere in each of the nine worlds. When you hit one, a Jiggy will appear somewhere back in Gruntilda's Lair. Usually collecting said Jiggy involves solving a basic puzzle, although they're all relatively easy to obtain. The Mumbo's Mountain Witch Switch, for instance, requires you to climb the world entrance/exit mountain to reach it. While impossible with Banjo, it's quite a simple job for a termite.

Eggs > You
7

With your newfound ability in hand, it's time to put Conga in his rightful place. Follow the path to the right, and stand on the platform facing Conga. Position yourself correctly, and fire some eggs at him to lay the hurt down on the big guy. Be weary of his oranges, though. While you try to shoot him down, he'll be hurdling them at you - when he does do this, just jump out of the way. After you hit him three times, he'll surrender and award you with his last prize - Jiggy number seven. Be careful, however - even though you came out of the battle victorious, that won't stop Conga from continuing his orange onslaught. At this point, it's best just to grab your prize and leave - cut and run, if you know what I'm saying. Maybe Conga will wise up in the future. For right now, I guess you'll just have to wait and see. The jerk.

If you ever find yourself running low on energy, look for beehives scattered around the area. Destroying one will leave you with three pieces of honey; bee (haha) careful, though - some bees might not be too happy about you destroying their hive. Retaliation is bad in this case.

Sharpshooter
8

Now that we're done with Conga's shenanigans, let's head back to Mumbo's Hut (the area where we obtained the first Jiggy). By now, you should have all five Mumbo Tokens, and the ability to shoot eggs, so we can finally take care of the former obstacles that stood in our way when we first arrived. When you get there, turn your focus on the big spinning totem pole located in the center of the village. It's time to put your shooting skills to the test - shoot an egg into the totem pole's mouth to eliminate the first section. For every section that you eliminate, the pole will spin faster and faster, so you'll have to be quick on the trigger with proper timing. Once you destroy the final section (you may wish to read below before doing that) of the totem pole, a Jiggy will appear for your collecting pleasure.

Before you destroy the final section of the totem pole, jump on top of its head and you should notice an empty honeycomb piece floating a couple of feet above it. Perform a flap flip to grab it and add yet another piece to your collection.

We're Really High, Dood
9

If you have all five Mumbo Tokens, go ahead and enter Mumbo's Hut. Mumbo will transform you into a termite, which will make your former problems with traversing steep slopes a thing of the past. The termite can tackle incredibly steep walls with ease, so let's head on over to the Termite Mound and begin our ascent of the slippery interior. When you reach the first area with the nets, be sure to collect the notes situated in the center. After a bit more climbing, you'll finally reach the peak of the nest where you'll find a Jiggy shimmering in the air. (Note: You can obtain an extra life located near the entrance/exit door at the top of the Mound; don't worry, it'll be in plain site.) Once the Jiggy is collected, go ahead and jump off the top of the mound. You won't take any damage - promise.

There's a small alcove containing an empty honeycomb piece in the cliff below the termites' mound. You can't access it as Banjo, but while transformed into a termite, you should be able to climb the walls and collect it with ease.

The Jinjos Five
10

In every world you land yourself in, the search for the Jinjos is something that you'll be doing. These poor creatures need rescuing, and only you can set them free, so remember to keep a lookout for them. Mumbo's Mountain's five are easy to find, so doing so should only take a matter of minutes. In fact, it's something that should just happen as you go along. In any case, though, the locations of the Jinjos in Mumbo's Mountain are pictured above (click to enlarge). Upon rescuing the fifth one, you will be awarded with another Jiggy that you can add to your small, but growing, collection.

In the Lair...

Make sure you remain in termite form when exiting Mumbo's Mountain, because it's the only way you'll be able to access the Jiggy that spawned on top of the entrance/exit when you hit the Witch Switch. Perform a few jumps to get to the top and collect the second lair Jiggy (if you ever want to view your progression with these types of things, just press Start and go to View Totals).

After you've done that, head back to main lobby (dodge the termites if needed; whenever you open a world door "baddies escape and rome once more," so be careful). Mumbo's magic will wear off and you'll turn back into Banjo after you travel a few steps, so don't worry about being a termite. Once that happens, Talon Trot up the steep slope in the main lobby and you'll come across the game's first Note Door; Bottles will provide you with a breif explanation on how they work. Locate the Treasure Trove Cove puzzle in the next room and fill in its two missing pieces to open up the second world. To find the entrance/exit, proceed up the sloped path into the next room, and jump down into the water. The Entrance Chest can be found through the nearby door.

Grunty's nicer sister Brentilda can be found in numerous rooms throughout the Lair. If you take a moment to speak with her, she might let you in on some family secrets that just might be of great aid to you at a later encounter. She'll offer three different snippets of info at each location.

As you progress through the Lair, you'll come across Warp Cauldrons. Finding two of the same color will allow you to quickly warp between two different areas in the Lair, making for faster traveling. The first Warp Cauldron can be found in the TTC puzzle room; it's located in a circular room down some stairs (look for the Gruntling enemy to find the location of the stairs). Approach it to activate it.

A Mumbo Token can be found directly behind the first Warp Cauldron. The room is also littered with eggs for you to collect.
